Required Work Experience: 1+ years

1 – 5 years of RF test experience. Solder/mechanical assembly experience (preferred) J-standard certification (preferred). 1PC-610 certification (preferred).

Must be eligible to work on defense and satellite programs subject to ITAR Regulations. Therefore, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident (‘Green Card’).

Must comply with company Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC including but not limited to: a) being able to identify ITAR product on the manufacturing floor and understand that access to these products and related technical data is restricted to only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents; b) recognition of Foreign Person visitors by badge differentiation.

Broad Function: Perform RF test operations on electronic components and subassemblies in accordance with company, IPC and J-standards. The main focus of this position is testing RF assemblies with some soldering and mechanical operations as required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Test PWBs or assemblies using Network Analyzer, Test Procedure, and predetermined setup test equipment.
  • Will require some use of voltmeters, scales, holding fixtures, bench tools, automated and manual soldering equipment and special fixtures.
  • Follow written/oral instructions from process engineers, manufacturing engineers, and supervisor.
  • May prepare and assemble PC boards, perform component preparation, dispense / apply adhesives, and utilize various tools to perform mechanical assembly.
  • Inspect work to ensure that it meets all requirements.
  • Comply with and support all department and corporate policies and procedures included but not limited to Safety and Security.
  • Create NCMR (non-conforming material review) and perform root cause analysis as needed.
  • Read, interpret and follow detailed test procedures and assembly drawings.
  • Work to develop customer relationships through collaboration, respect, professionalism, trust and integrity.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic and routine repetitive mechanical assembly operations on components and subassemblies using fixtures, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Proficient use and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Ability to run automatic soldering equipment.
  • Ability to determine if product meets company quality standards.
  • Must be quality oriented and know when to seek help.
  • Must have excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize projects.
  • Ability to understand manufacturing documentation.
  • Requires basic mechanical and good soldering skills.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow Test Procedures.
  • May require limited soldering skills under magnification.
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to use (hold, lift, maneuver, etc.) hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to maneuver tiny objects such as screws, wires, etc.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


  • Formal on-the-job technical training preferred.
  • Annual safety and RCRA training, including thereafter Introduction to RCRA, Properties of Facility Waste, Waste Minimization Accumulation, Container Management, and Emergency Response Plan.


  • Ability to safely lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and work at a PC throughout the day.
  • Majority of day spent seated.
  •  Ability to work shift work.


  • As necessary when entering areas with PPE requirements.


  • Work performed primarily at a test console.

Job Level:

  • Utility Test Operator Level, typically 0-1 years of experience
  • Entry level position. Employee in training under close supervision.

Test Operator I Level, typically 1-2 years of experience

  • Operator is trained to all functions of position and operates fairly independently under moderate supervision.

Test Operator II Level, typically 2+ years of experience

  •  Operator operates independently under moderate supervision. Operator may be called upon to provide on the job training to new employees.

Test Operator III Level, typically 3+ years of experience or advanced training. Limited need in department at this level.

  • Operator operates independently under minimal supervision. Operator is called upon for work on advanced level product, special projects, additional related responsibilities or to fill in temporarily when supervisor is absent.
