SUMMARY
This position completes engineering tasks and projects as assigned by Program Manager and/or Engineering Manager. Interacts with all production departments to facilitate the completion of assigned project. Responsible for organizing and controlling project elements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

§ Develops detailed project plans by reviewing objectives of Program Manager for specific part programs
§ Conducts experimental testing, laboratory testing, quality inspection, or similar as assigned
§ Reviews project plan with Program Manager and/or Engineering Manager
§ Reviews and understands project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards
§ Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests
§ Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements
§ Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions
§ Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions
§ Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
§ Maintains documentation of test results, processing data, and other pertinent information
§ May create work instructions [procedures] to be used for part processing
§ Assists advanced research and development with new methods or materials, as requested
§ Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
§ May lead small team of Engineering Technicians, if required
§ May perform other engineering duties related to part or process development as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS
§ BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Plastic Engineering, or equivalent combination of education
§ SolidWorks experience, or equivalent 3D modeling software
§ Minitab experience, or equivalent statistical analysis software
§ Demonstrated teamwork skills
§ Understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures
§ Working knowledge of production and safety procedures used in a manufacturing environment
§ Basic understanding of metal injection molding [MIM], plastic injection molding, and die-casting processes
§ Exceptional oral and written communication skills
§ Effective skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with a wide range of individuals from varying economic, social, and educational backgrounds in a manufacturing environment
§ Demonstrated knowledge and experience in mold design, but not required
§ Skill in developing secondary process and equipment desired, but not required
