SUMMARY
This is a senior level engineering position. This position is responsible for engineering specific parts from design and tooling through production to shipping to the customer. Interacts with all production departments to ensure a quality part is manufactured. Develops, implements, and maintains process parameters for new and existing parts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Project coordination
Assesses customer needs regarding priorities, deadlines, and quantities
Interacts with customers
Reviews part prints and approves for production
Designs and requisitions process fixturing
Schedules and monitors all pre-production activities through the system, from design and tooling
through initial part production
Maintains documentation of customer communication, processing data, and other pertinent product information
Develops and maintains work instructions [procedures] to be used for part processing
Develops, documents, and implements process parameters
Assists advanced research and development with new methods or materials as requested
Serves as consultant on mold design [and other tooling processes, as needed]

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
May serve as a backup to the Engineering Manager
May perform other engineering duties related to part or process development as assigned
May involve daily coordination of other department members

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may be responsible for the supervision of an engineering team

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS
BS in Mechanical Engineering, BS Plastic Engineering or equivalent combination of education
Minimum of five years of engineering experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
Demonstrated leadership skills
Demonstrated teamwork skills
Working knowledge of metal forming applications for finishing and secondary operations
Working knowledge of production and safety procedures used in a manufacturing environment
Thorough understanding and working knowledge of metal injection molding [MIM], plastic injection molding, and die-casting processes
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in mold design
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Effective skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with a wide range of individuals from varying economic, social, and educational backgrounds in a manufacturing environment
Skill in developing secondary process and equipment desired, but not required
Willingness and ability to travel as needed
